One Month Old!

Our little one is already one month old! The first month has been a bit of a blur due to sleep deprivation and we are so glad to have helping hands close by this time around. Lacey is a good baby, eating and sleeping as a newborn should. I had bragged a little too much about her 3-4 hour stretches of sleep the first couple weeks, so she decided to change that up for me and go into standard newborn 2 hour stretches for a while. We're just hoping this one turns into a better sleeper than Luke was.

Here is her 1 month update:

  • Weighs 9 lbs, 3 oz, 21 in. She was 6 lbs, 14 oz, 19.5 in at birth and 7 lbs, 8 oz, 20 in at 2 weeks, so quite a bit of growth!
  • Wears some newborn sizes and graduating into 0-3 mo sizes
  • Wore newborn diapers until a couple days after she turned 1 month and we got our first diaper leaks. Moved up to Size 1.
  • Lost her cord at 3 weeks, 2 days.
  • Has cried with real tears from the beginning :(
  • Could lift and turn her head from side to side at 2 weeks old.
  • Rolled from her back to her side around the one month mark.
  • Lots of smiles and little giggles, but still involuntary. Excited for those social smiles to begin over the next month!

Only a few days old and  newborn sleepers were still too big!

The picture on top is Luke, the one below is Lacey.
She is looking more and more like him.

The carseat offers a good way to show her growth as the months go by.
Here she is at 1 month!

We did not plan to take Lacey to church until she was 1 month old, but our church happened to be having the baby blessing when she was 2 weeks old, so we came just for the blessing, then left.

All the family was invited from both sides, so I thought we'd have a little brunch reception after church. Nothing too extravagant since I was still a zombie from lack of sleep, but it was fun to get the family together.

Lacey's first day to church, wearing the same dress I wore my first time to church.

Allen has really honed his photography skills and captured some great newborn photos. I'll add those in a separate post.

Life with a toddler and a newborn is a definite adjustment. Luke is very good with her, likes to give hugs and kisses and talk to her. He also wants his attention, though, and I think that's the hardest part because it seems like I am always holding/feeding/changing/pacifying Lacey. I have to plan out times to sit down and play just with Luke when someone else can tend to Lacey. He's a great sport about it most of the time. Maybe that's an advantage of a slightly older big brother. (Not that I don't know how quickly that can change!)

Looking forward to the upcoming months to see how little Lacey grows into her own "look" and also for her to start sleeping through the night! This mama can't wait to sleep again!
