Time to Hear from ME!

So at 17 weeks, I recognize that it is a little late to really just be hearing from the mom-to-be. Two big excuses -- I have been SO tired all the time and finally am just starting to feel better. I struggled with "evening sickness" rather than morning sickness and that made it especially tough to keep up with the blogging. I don't have access to blog on my computer due to a super powerful firewall, only Allen's, and I only have access to Allen's in the evenings, so hence no real blogging by me. I also completely underestimated how tiring it is to grow a human! It zaps your energy like nothing you have ever experienced before. All I can say is praise God I was able to make it through the work day without being sick. I have heard horror stories of co-workers puking in their trash cans...no fun. I never actually threw up at all, just really wanted to!

I have to say, I am not sure what I really expected pregnancy to be like, but continue to have this, "huh...so this is it I guess" attitude. Rather ambivalent, but I suppose that comes from never having experienced anything close to this before. Your hormones wear the pants and you do what they say, reveling in the "joys" of pregnancy. Don't get me wrong, it is AMAZING, but as someone who thrives on control and planning, let's just say I am learning some good life lessons.

At 17 weeks I also have a visable little bump. No more just looking chubby. Clothes have become a challenge and I am now most comfortable in maternity clothes. While I can still get away with some of my pre-pregnancy pants unbuttoned, it is definitely most comfortable to go with the built-in band. There are actually some cute options out there these days, so I have found a few things that will work. I have always dreaded the need for a maternity wardrobe because you spend money on clothes you can only wear for about a year of your life. Hopefully the choices you make will still be in style next time around. I took advantage of the no sales tax incentive when in Oregon in August and was able to get several good deals. Among them are a few cute pieces I am excited to grow into. That will be the only time you will ever hear me say that!

Enough for now. I am sleepy. It is 8:45 and my bed time fast approaches. We intend to find out boy or girl and should know in just a few more weeks, so stay tuned!

We so enjoyed having the two (and a third) of you for the weekend! It went by too fast. Hope you weren't too worn out when you got home.

You look just beautiful,Sarah! And all those pregnancy life-lessons are truly God's way of preparing you for parenthood - suddenly that little bundle of joy turns all your plans upside down - sometimes a little hard to adjust to, but always worth it - always! We love you guys and hope to get a visit from you soon! Em
