I was told that our loan funded today....All we have to do is wait for it to be recorded tomorrow and we get the keys to our new home!! No more washing dishes by hand! No more community laundry!! No more parking 10 miles away and hauling in groceries in the rain!! HOORAY!!

Well, Monday we signed all the papers before Allen left town again. Although we technically close on Wednesday, we really are just waiting for a phone call that all has gone through, and is completed, and get the keys. Hooray!
My mom came down this weekend since Allen was gone and we did the walk-through with our realtor and the listing agent. A couple more things and we are good to go! We will paint the bedrooms on Wednesday evening before the carpet is installed on Thursday. Our new desk for the office comes on Friday. SO exciting!
Today we will be packing what we can. I hate this part of moving. Though we have moved so many times, we have been blessed not to have to pack ourselves but twice, both times were our local moves. Luckily I have all the boxes I need. My dad is the VP of a box company and so he hooked us up with the actual moving boxes they supply to U-haul, one of their customers. I still have to figure out how we will be moving furniture...friends have offered to help, so we may go that route. Our last experience with cheap local movers was not a good one...
As soon as we get moved in and things put away we'll post new pics!

Things are moving along right on schedule! Last weekend we picked out carpet for the 3 upstairs bedrooms and a new ceiling fan for the master bedroom. Because the previous owner was in the process of updating the entire place, some things were not yet completed at the time we first saw it. Rather than have the seller complete the carpet installation, we are going to receive a credit towards new carpet so we can pick it out ourselves. We picked "frize" (friz-zay) carpet with the little specs in it, kind of an off-white color. We will have it installed probably after painting is completed but prior to move in. Our close date is March 29th, so we are trying to wrap up all these little details as quickly as possible.
This weekend the pre-packing will begin. To me, this basically means going through our office and cleaning out all the junk. If it were up to me, I would throw away most everything. It turns out, though, that some of what I'd like to throw out are considered valuable papers and books to Allen..
I hate moving and all the hassle associated with changing addresses, etc. Beyond that we will finally have to register our cars and ourselves with CA. That is going to mean big $$$. Registering a car in CA is not cheap. Once we are registered, our car payments and insurance also increase due to LA County costs. The part that most concerns me about registering in CA is how frequently people I know are called to Jury Duty. We're talking the LA County courthouse. Like where the OJ trial happened. I do NOT want to be called to the LA County courthouse! Unfortunately it all comes with the territory. I am just going to have to focus on the positives of a new home. :)

The contract was finally signed by both parties by about 9:30 last night. So, it looks like we secured the deal and are now working our way through the deal. We are scheduled to close on Wednesday March 29. We are going to have the inspection done tomorrow (Saturday). Here are some more pics that we found on the listing agent's website.
