Pepperdine Associates Dinner

About two weeks ago, Sarah and I went to the Pepperdine Associates Dinner for the first time. It's the biggest dinner Pepperdine throws each year for donors. (Funny thing is that most of the people who attend are NOT Associates.) We went with our friends Seth and Jolynn (yes, Seth is an Associate :) who had been numerous times. We greatly enjoyed the car rides there and back - they are so much fun.

They typically have a high profile guest speak. Last year it was a conversation between Lester Holt and Walter Cronkite. This year they honored our Chancellor Emeritus, Charlie Runnels. It was a great night of Pepperdine history. Being new to the scene, I didn't know a whole lot of people, but I'm sure that will change in the future. We did meet a handful of nice people and the food was pretty good over all (except Sarah's meat was too red). The highlight was the Blue Bell Ice Cream with dessert. Since you can't buy Blue Bell in CA, they had it shipped out since it's Charlie's favorite.

On the way out a funny thing happened. It just so happened that the whole group we walked to the parking garage with were Conejo people. Mark and Michelle Davis, David and Joy Rhoades, Robert and Loretta Katch and their girls, and the four of us. We all had a good laugh about it.

Dad, you'll be interested to know that John Ratzenberger (Cliff from Cheers) was there. Apparently he has some ties to Pepperdine. (I like him because he's a voice in EVERY Pixar movie.)
