Pepperdine Games

Sarah and I made it a Pepperdine Athletic Weekend a few days ago. On Friday night we went to the Pep vs. UCLA volleyball game. This game is always intense as both teams are always some of the best in the country and there is never a guaranteed winner each season. The match went 5 games and we lost in the end. Kind of sad to lose that game on our home court. But hey, last year we almost went undefeated and them bombed in the final tournament. So, I'll take a few losses this year if they'll do well in the end. Main reason for our loss, our top player is out for several weeks because his hand got broken in a door. Had he been in, then this would have been a different blog post. Oh yeah, Chris and Kristy went to the game and sat with us. It was fun to get to spend some time with them (sitting in the old people section of course).

On Saturday night Sarah and I went to the Pep vs. LMU basketball game. This game is always a fun one as we are cross-town "rivals". I'm not sure if we could actually consider them rivals as we have beaten them 19 out of the last 21 games we've played them. Saturday night was that 19th win. And was it an awesome win. Our Basketball coach resigned a week before this game. While it was a surprise for everyone, it sounds like it was a good thing. The team hadn't done well all season. But now, without a "coach", they won by over 20 points! For this game Sarah wanted to sit in the student section. While our backsides were not happy with that choice, it was fun to be in the most energetic section of the gym.

I'm sure we'll be going to a few more games of both sports this season.

I do hope they get to play each other again. It would be fun to have a "cross country" rivalry going on. =-)
